Is this remote backup scenario secure?

If we put store an encrypted.dmg on Box.net and then mount the Box.net account via (non-secure) webdav in the Finder and then mount the encrypted.dmg over the webdav conection will transfers to and from the .dmg be encrypted?
I'm looking for a fairly easy way to back-up a few files offsite while still being able to access them easily and securely (via Finder or F/OSS).
Sort of like JungleleDisk + AmazonS3 but free.
Second best is If not free then without a proprietary/paid app.
Also, no command line usage, all GUI.
Suggestions?

The data will be encrypted on the server as it is being written to the image, but it won't be encrypted as it travels to the server, as unless you are using secure WebDAV (https), traffic is unencrypted.
When you mean GUI only, are you looking to write an Applescript or Automator action to automate this or something?

No not really.
I just don't want to have to deal with the command line to use any aspect of mounting/backing-up the volume. Secure webdav of an encrypted .dmg would probably fit the bill. but I can only get box.net to mount my account in the Finder using unencrypted webdav...
rsync.net seems promising but it may be too 'command line' oriented for me.

How do you intend to automate your backups then, if not the command line or some scripting language? Really, these kind of things are what a little Unix is great at facilitating.

The docs that I need to backup offsite are mostly archive type documents that are not changing or being added to on a regular basis, so I don't really need a script that runs every day or even every week to do the backup.
I am content to login and copy any necessary files over to the backup manually every now and then.
That being said, I still would like to have easy access to them...
I'm looking for security and simplicity, I guess.

Actually the data will already be encrypted when it is travels towards the server. When writing to an encrypted disk image the local Mac has to handle the encryption since the remote server has no knowledge about the encryption whatsoever.

For an encrypted dmg on a WebDAV volume, the encryption is performed on the client side, so secure WebDAV isn't necessary for end to end encryption (although it helps with avoiding MITM attacks, including DNS poisoning).

Sounds like there is some disagreement here about whether or not transfer to and from an encrypted.dmg are encrypted in transit.
I found the BingoDisk service that offers access via secure WebDAV so hopefully that will secure the data while reading and writing to the mounted encrypted.dmg.
It just occurred to me that an encrypted.sparseimage might be more bandwidth friendly.
Any thoughts on weather the WebDAV service (which appears to use the ZFS filesystem) can accommodate a .sparseimage?
