Can I update my operating system from Panther to Tiger without deleting the applications that are on the computer?

I have a chance to get a Quicksliver Powermac G4 for pretty cheap that has Panther and some nice applications like Photoshop CS. I have never installed an operating system before. Can I install Tiger without deleting the Photoshop CS and other applications, or do all applications get deleted when you install a new operating system? The reason I would want Tiger is that I currently have a G5 iMac w/ Tiger and I feel more comfortable with Tiger.

Can a 733 MHz G4 run Tiger reasonably well?

The default upgrade is non-destructive.

You can also choose to "Archive Install" which will create a brand new system for you leaving all your other stuff intact.

Tiger will run fine, assuming you have at least 512MB of RAM (max RAM would be best).
