Based on the Apple Discussion Forums, I see I'm not the only one suffering from this phenomenon. I consistently get Kernel Panics while using Skype and my Bluetooth headset. It doesn't seem to be Skype related as the culprit appears to be the A2DP driver (IOBluetoothA2DPAudioDriver). It seems to happen just as consistently when using the headset for any type of audio. I use Skype a lot for work and it's getting to be a real issue. I can reproduce this on 3 different systems (Powerbook G4, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini), however, I suffer no problems on my Hackintosh (Dell Dimension 5150 running 10.5.4) I use a D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth adapter that is recognized natively by OS X. How many of you out there use a Bluetooth headset for audio output? Are you having any issues?

Well... I guess there aren't many bluetooth headset users out there. That would explain why it appears to be low on Apples list of bugs.

I finally gave up and bought a cheap $20 USB headset and it works beautifully. I should have done this a long time ago. Granted I'll miss not being able to walk around the house while I'm chatting but the lack of kernel panics is awesome. I forgot what it's like to have my computer on for days at a time.

I use a Plantronics Voyager 510 with Skype and don't get kernel panics.

It could be your model and the way it interacts with Apple's built-in BT driver perhaps. Do you have other BT models/manufacturers you're able to test with?

I've duplicated this problem on 5 different Macs/MacBooks and 1 HackBook using 3 different bluetooth headset: 2 Plantronics and 1 Motorola.

In looking at Apple's support forums, this problem occurs with Logitech, Sony, Motorola, Plantronics.... pretty much every kind. What's most frustrating is that it doesn't just crash Skype, but results in a kernel panic. That's pretty harsh.
