I recently bought a 733MHz PowerMac G4. It has 658MB RAM (soon to be upgraded to 1.5GB) and a 64MB ATI Radeon 7000 AGP video card.

Leopard installed just fine with that OF hack to make it think I had an 867MHz G4, and it runs surprisingly quickly. There is, however, one small problem I've noticed:

Tooltips in the dock just refuse to display correctly! The same problem appears when using VNC to remote into the machine. I don't remember if I had this problem when using the 32MB nVidia card that came with the machine (that card was borked, so I replaced it with this ATI one). Anyone else see this problem? I've googled around for it, but haven't come up with anything thus far,
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...

It happens occasionally for me too. There has been a thread here previously about it but I don't recall any resolution, perhaps try quitting and re-launching the Dock to see if it helps.

That's a 2D Dock placed at bottom so may it be related to the given software you are using to do the trick?? ( trick I understand cause I love the 2D Dock albeit I have it placed at left side of screen )

I tried switching back to the 3D dock, and I have the same problem. Is there a way to disable the tooltip background entirely?

It might well be for shifuimam, but I have never hacked my Dock so it isn't the cause for me.
