(From an earlier thread)
Print->PDF->Save as PDF embeds your full name into file

Whenever you use the built in "Save as PDF" feature in OS X, the resultant PDF is embedded with an author name that corresponds to the FULL NAME that you specify in Preferences->Users. So, if you send this file, anyone will be able to see who authored it.

I am shocked at this

Get Info ( I ) shows my name, I'm now worried about PDF's I may have sent where I wished to remain anonymous.

I wonder if it's as easy on PC's to view this info.

Just thankful most people are non savvy computer users.

However, upon investigation, when you arrive at Save as PDF page, you do have the option to edit the Authors name, so instead of just clicking through, amend this if required.

Be nice to have an automatic option to leave this field blank.

I'm sure there is a .plist hack that prevents this. If only someone could point it out.

Just checking out my Excel and Word documents, User name also embedded into saved documents.

Easy to amend though, go to File >> Properties >> Summary and amend info, AFAICS you have to do this individually for each document.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Preferences >> General Preferences >> User name a possible global pref for name ? )

Useful to add secret info though.

Same for TextEdit.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Security >> Preferences >> Privacy options[ >> Remove personal information from this file on save is a good thing to know in Excel & Word

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I do hope this info is not embedded in emails I send from Mail.

Phew !!!!!

Just checked my Mail archive, no PDF's sent that I would not want the recipient to know who the Author was !

Same goes for Excel & Word docs.

The Plus side is that I can see who originated various documents I have received over the years !

Thanks for the heads up. I send lots of these and often recommend the feature to others.
Time to do some digging in my email box.

PDFInfo works quite well too, just tried it.

I normally just print >> save the pdf >>save as and remove the author details

PDFInfo works quite well too, just tried it.

I like the fact it will work on a folder, now I just have 500+PDF's to amend !
