Ok so this is really really really frustrating me so was hoping for some assistance...All of my docs, xls, pdf's all have those extensions at the end of them..However, when i go to them, either in finder or the folder itself, it is just white and has that extension written across a while piece of paper looking thing...I would like the Microsoft word document, excel, adobe, etc, icons to show instead of this ugly white paper with the extension stamped across it...Now, i have already done the "get info, copy and paste icon picture, apply to all" steps and it is still not working....Any help is appreciated...Thanks.

is there an easier way to fix this?? My notebook is like 2 weeks old and it seems kinda wrong that i have to start messing with databases and what not, considering i have NO idea how to do it and don't want to venture into it and end up messing up my system...What's even weird is that when i first open up finder or a folder, the proper icons start to load, then like 1/2 sec later, the white pages with the extension types come up...

It sounds like you're seeing Leopard's new icon previews. Leopard automatically shows these for every file type that Quicklook knows about. If you don't like this, uncheck "Show icon preview" under View > Show View Options and click on "Use as defaults" to kill them all globally.
