Folks,

I'm new...

I've tried twice to upgrade from safari 3.1.2 to 3.2 and twice it's froze. My machine restarts and them about 10% into the install process nothing happens.

I waited and waited and waited and both times I had to force a re-start.

Any ideas?

Thanks - Tony, Glasgow

I just did it using Software Update. Is that how you approached the upgrade?

The only glitch I had was that after the Mac rebooted, the cursor would not move. This might be unrelated, because it has happened at other times. I simply unplugged the mouse and plugged it back in, and here I am, using Safari 3.2

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried Software Update twice and I've went in through the Apple site too but still the same nothingness!

Try creating a new user (make it an admin) and run the update from there. If it doesn't work, you may have to run Disk Utility to verify/repair the hard drive.

I am running into exactly the same problem. I can install anything else, even stuff requiring a restart.

Just when the installer starts working with the Safari install it stops at 'configuring the install' and sits there forever until I restart manually.

I have never seen anything like it and it isn't disk corruption.

Well I solved this for me at least..

I had AdBlock installed and uninstalled that, then threw out the already downloaded update from /Library/Updates/ and re-ran software update.

Downloaded Safari again and restarted. It installed without problems. Not sure whether it was AdBlock or a borked download that caused this to begin with, but there you go.

Folks, I'm on 10.5.5 and I don't have AdBlock.

I've just decided to scrap it.

There must be a conflict somewhere but I can't think what.

Thanks
