Not sure whether to post this in the applications forum or the mac os x forum.
Running an intel macbook, My photoshop CS was working fine on it for the last year. I had mac os x 10.4.9
A few months ago I bought a wireless usb modem (with company called 3), couldn't get it to work, eventually I upgraded to 10.4.11 and that seemed to fix the problem my modem is now working. Although it may also have been because I upgraded the firmware. And also changed some settings for my modem in the system preferences.
Anyway I didn't use photoshop for ages, but in the last month have been using it a lot and it keeps quitting. I am getting the message "unexpectedly quitting", it usually (though not always) quits around the 3rd save.
I've been using Indesign a lot too but it's been fine.
Today I also had the same error message with Word, though this was only with one document, 3 times I tried to save a change and 3 times it quit, but now I have restarted and it's fine. So not sure if this is the same issue I am having with photoshop as the Word problem has only happened today and never before this, and now seems to be working again, so it could be just a one off, but is making me worry that I'm going to lose another application to this mystery disease!
So I wondered if this could be a problem with 10.4.11? I prefer not to go back to my older system software 10.4.9 because my modem then may not work (though I'm not sure if the os x upgrade was actually what got my modem to work, it could have been the firmware upgrade of the fact I changed some system modem prefs.)
I've thought of upgrading to Leopard but can anyone tell me if that might fix the problem of photoshop unexpectedly quitting or not. In any case at the moment I am also having problems with my Leopard installation disk (long story I've put on another thread)

I use PS7 with 10.4.11 no probs
In fact I use an dedicated external HDD as my iMac is on 10.5.6, and PS7 don't work with that.
However, PS7 don't use 0 to fill screen, it crashes
and also sometimes if I open too many pics at one time, and then using keypad shortcuts for speed I go to next pic or effect before the previous one saved properly.

It sounds like you may have some disk corruption or possibly bad RAM. It's possible that it could be an OS problem that could be solved if you performed an Archive and Install, but you should be mindful that it could be caused by some other issue.
You know, I went searching for a general list of Mac troubleshooting and repair steps, but I don't think there really is a good list available right now.

Thanks all, I ended up I reinstalled my original disk 10.4.9 and reinstalled Photoshop. I'm not sure which step worked but Photoshop now seems to be working fine. So problem seems to be fixed.
I was resisting installing 10.4.9 as I have a usb wireless modem that wouldn't work, and at the time I thought it was because of 10.4.9 and one of the things I did to try and fix this was to upgrade to 10.4.11, the modem then worked so I figured if I went back to 10.4.9 that my modem would no longer work, but fortunately it is still working! So my modem problem must have been related to something else! I had previously changed a network setting on my computer as well as downloading 10.4.11 so it must have been the setting change that fixed my modem problem and not the upgrade.
So anyway all's well that ends well! Everything seems to be running smoothly now (touch wood!) on 10.4.9
