I've got a unique problem that even a fresh restart didn't fix. See when I open a new finder Window in my home directory it lags for a second, but if I access that same folder from another user's account it's nice and zippy. So it seems like something particular to that user but it stayed when I did a full system reinstall from scratch.

So things I've tried to fix it with.
Removed all .DS_store or whatever they're called files. Removed the background image I'd had, and reinstalled the OS. Any other recommendations?

Sounds like a problem with your particular user account. Not sure what remedy to try.

That won't do anything for problems with a home folder. Home folders are not checked since only files installed with Installer are checked.
