My OS is 10.5.6 and for the past five days I’ve been getting a pop-up that says:

“A script in this movie is causing Adobe flash Player 9 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive.
Do you want to abort the script?” It also shows a Firefox icon.

I have answered yes every time. I have not shut off my MBP, so I thought aborting the script should do the trick. It has not; every day I would get the pop-up. I haven’t any idea what it is all about. I don’t know if viewing something in an email could have been the cause. I don’t do movies. I haven’t got a Time Machine backup yet so I can’t go back.

I have tried to solve this myself with Activity Monitor and top, but I don’t really know what I am looking at except when I recognize an application name. The Activity Monitor output jumps around a lot which doesn’t help. I don’t know how to see what scripts are running and how to delete them.

Any suggestions?

Which browser are you using?

You could also try reinstalling Flash 9 or updating to Flash 10.

It is probably some page open in your browser that is the cause of the problem. Could be a Flash movie or an ad.
