Hi,

I was ingesting about 4 gigabytes of photos whilst heading back on a photo shoot (I was on a bus, not driving) and right in the middle of the ingest when my Macbook Pro froze and the busy circle showed. I looked at my express card reader and it was showing no activity so I waited about 10 minutes and did a restart.
During the restart, my MBP went to the logo with the spinning circle and hasn't gone any further. So I did the basic things to try to fix the problem (Did the SMC thing with the battery and resetted the PRAM) with no solution. So I tried to boot to single user mode to no avail. Finally, I booted to verbose mode and recieved a disk0s2 i/o error. From what I have read on the message board, it looks like my hard drive is heading for a crash and everything should be backed up. But I am typing on my MPB on the Vista partition I have on it. The Vista partition has been running perfectly since the problem so I was wondering if you guys thought it would be a software problem instead of a hard drive problem due to me running Vista right now.
I would hate to take my MBP for service and lose it for a bit when I can just use Disk Utility (which I will run when I get back home from overseas).
Any comments?

Vinh

It's completely possible that the one partition has become corrupted, but I would back up your Vista stuff too. And I wouldn't ingest data. Probably not good for your health.

Is your express card reader still attached to the MBP? If so detach and try again.
