Not sure if this is in the right forum or not, but anyways...

Up until now, I've been using Backup.app to perform daily backups of selected files on my Mac to my iDisk on MobileMe. My problem with this is that all the backups are archived, meaning that I can't simply access any version of a particular file.

Here's what I want to do - backup selected folders on my Mac to iDisk, incrementally, without them being archived (think Time Machine for MobileMe). Does anyone know if there is any way to do this?

There are utlities that replicate Time Machine's functionality on remote servers. I don't know how well they work, but they do exist. Search versiontracker (or whichever Mac download site you prefer).

Iirc, the files that Backup creates are packages. If you right-click them and Show Package Contents you can view the contents and copy them out without any problem. That or just use Backup and its Restore... button (selecting the Restore to an alternate [sic] location checkbox) to achieve the same effect.

If JKT's suggestion doesn't float your boat, there's Bombich's Carbon Copy Cloner as well. You can also use it to set up crontabs to auto-backup for you, as well as pre-process scripts so you can make sure your iDisk is mounted before it tries to back up (under advanced settings).
