is there a way to delete this? I have hundreds of no longer needed email address that pop up while using mail. How do I clear the cache?

For individual items, you pop a new message and start to address. Let Mail fill in the name you don't want. Then right click on the name and somewhere in that menu it says "remove from previous recipients list".

Edit: hey ho... Window menu -> Previous Recipients list.
