I searched for this and couldn't find an answer. If you buy a Mac now and say Snow Leopard is released within 60 days does Apple do anything for you? Will you still have to pay the $129 or whatever it costs?
Thanks for the help.

If Apple release snow Leopard within two weeks of you buying a Mac, they'll give you an upgrade, otherwise, you'll have to buy it.

This web page used to work http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/
If you buy a Mac with a previous OS (within certain days of the new OS) you had the option of getting the current one by just paying a really small fee. I can´t remember exactly how many days one could be eligible for this update program.. I remember I was in that situation with the Panther-Tiger transition.

Some googling shows the cutoff date for the Tiger-to-Leopard up-to-date program was October 1st, 2007. Release date was October 26th.

It's not too much longer until WWDC, I'd just wait it out and see what, if any, announcement is made regarding the OS release date.

The cutoff date is usually when the release date is announced, unless it's one of those "…and it's available NOW!" things. In that case, it's usually a few weeks. I don't think it's ever been two months.

I'm waiting to buy a new Mac until SL is released.
I wonder how many people are postponing their purchases and how much it "costs" Apple in Sales.

Given how few know what "Snow Leopard" is beyond a white cat, I wouldn't imagine it's a very large number.

There's always a reason to wait. Personally, I'm waiting for an Mac with Nehalem and a price that is not completely insane - probably an iMac - but I was kind of expecting SL to be out by now so it would have the worst bugs fixed by the time I got it.

With the purchase of my MBP I took part in such upgrade program and became 10.5 for a little administrative fee. I cannot remember how far back this period reached. I got my MBP in early October 2007. Regards, Felix
