I'm running 10.5.7 on my Macbook Core Duo and started having an issue with Software Update. I tried upgrading the lateset iTunes and Quicktime but get this message

"Software Update could not expand the package correctly"

I've run Disk Utility and repaired permissions.

download the 10.5.7 combo updater from apple. Install it and see if it fixes your problems.
