Hello - the other day I experienced something strange:
I was searching for a video file which I obviously misplaced and/or accidentally deleted.
It was hard to find because I also forgot that it had the ending ".3gp".
However, since Finder and Spotlight were not much of help I invoked the Terminal and
issued a thorough 'find' command with wild cards over night.
This search also included my pretty full 2TB backup disk. (hence the long running time of 'find')
The next day not only it has found the missing file on a different data disk but it also showed me multiple
occurrences of this particular file on the backup disk - just as it would for any other file which has been backuped on a regular basis.
I looked it up on the backup disk and it appeared as if I accidentally have deleted this file from its original location.
I started Time Machine to restore it but I just can't find it there.
Not a single sign of this file in the fancy looking index of Time Machine.
I also copied the entire path into Finder's "Go to Folder ..." and Finder showed me the file on the backup disk which I also can quicklook etc.
How come? Am I missing something?
I could it copy manually via Finder but I'm sure that's not the original idea of using TM.
For now I stopped using this backup disk since I'm very concerned that my backups may be corrupted.
Thanks a lot - Michael.
