Is there a way to add icons to places? for some reason, my 'Documents" shortcut under "Places" disappeared on one of my macs. I tried searching on how to put icons there.

Just drag whatever you want into there.

It probably didn't disappear on its own. You can click and drag those items. If it gets dragged off of the window, it turns into a "puff of smoke" and is no longer listed. Someone probably did that, whether accidently or on purpose, and didn't tell you, or didn't notice. Or you didn't notice. Or, you noticed but didn't tell us....
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Yonkers can have better TV reception.
