Ive really forgot a lot I knew about firewalls and MacOS. I used to connect to my FiOS via a router and had that set up for firewalls and had the OS set up probably in a 10.4 sys

my router gave up the ghost and now I connet direct to the FiOS w and ethernet connection.

I do the usual web surfing, email and some torrenting w VUSE.

what to I need to further do to make this as 'secure' as possible. no file sharing is enabled.

thanks much!

All of that can be done w/o any open ports (Torrent performance will be subpar though).
So there's really nothing you'd need to do, and everything should still work.

Most torrent clients run optimal when a certain port is opened and forwarded.
It supposedly gives some speed advantage.

I don't know what otehr 3rd party firewalls or GUIs are good, I haven't used any in a long time.
