So I noticed that MacRumors has posted images of seems to be the new packaging of Snow Leopard Here
Not that it really matters to me what the packaging looks like, usually I pull the disc out, make a disc copy then put the original away, but it definitely looks like they are able to sell the product cheaper due to cutting packaging costs. When it comes down to it, how much do we really need to have high end packaging like "Leopard" came in? good move on Apples part to bring down costs of the OS I think and help push it.

Looks like it comes in a plastic sleeve and not a flip open box with a fitted slot for the dvd which would have cost more to make.

That's like a $1 savings, maybe.

Yeah, that's what I meant by "maybe." I originally wrote "a few cents," but then decided to be generous and assume some kind of worst-case scenario.

And yes, the packaging is worthy of Microsoft.

The Leopard holographic box was really cool. I imagine they'll return to that if they have a big released planned for 10.7. But since SL isn't as full an upgrade and since this is the upgrade packaging we're talking about, it comes in cheaper packaging.
