I had these problems in Leopard and these has persisted after the update to 10.6

I am running a setup with a MBP and a 30 inch dell monitor (almost the same as the apple 30" in terms of HW and panel). If I connect the display after I have booted the mac, the colors of the icons becomes vivid / very saturated. If I leave the monitor connected during boot the icons of the GUI becomes less saturated, and seems like they are using my calibrated monitor profile.

The rest of the display graphics, as images from the web and my work(photos) remains saturated /vivid all the time while the GUI could be less saturated. Seems like there is some mess or conflict between two profiles and which profile to use where when another display has been connected. Anyone who has any info on this problem? Or some tips for a solution

The image clearly illustrates the problem. I am not even sure if the icons should be vivid or less saturated in color?
