Lost Subject Column in Snow Leopard
I have been recieving a few emails from WideMail users who have recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and have found that thier subject columns are remaining hidden.
As WideMail provides the ability to show/hide the subject column in order to rectify this situation you will have to manually edit the com.apple.mail.plist file located in ~/Library/Preferences/ (where ~ is your home directory).
QUIT Mail.app FIRST!
To edit the plist file you must use the Property List Editor application that comes installed with the Developer Tools.
You must edit keys within:
Root/TableColumns/
Located in this key are: drafts, normal, notes, outgoing, rss, smart.
Within each of these keys are a list of ids, the subject column id is “2″.
Inside each of the subject column ids change the value of “isVisible” to YES.
Save the plist file and quit Property List Editor.
Relaunch Mail.app and the subject column should now be visible.
If you have further problems please note them in the comments below.
