Hello, can someone tell me what the default permissions would be for the Volume of a new setup external firewire/usb drive?

Eh...if you buy a new external HD, it would likely be formatted as FAT32, so no permissions at all. Newly plugged in external HDs are usually set to ignore permissions (it's a checkbox in the Get Info window). If I were to set one up without that box, I'd probably have the root of the drive owned by root/wheel and then configure the subfolders with whatever permissions I'd like them to have. Why?

i mean a newly formatted for mac drive. I think mine are sort of mucked sso i'd like to start from default at this point. thanks.
