no sound after installing Snow Leopard ?

hello i recently installed Snow Leopard and now i have no sound,any ideas how to get sound back please?
when i look in pref. and sound it says output-headphones and i do not know how to change to monitor speakers,any help would be thankfully accepted.

Do you hear any sound through the headphone jack (e.g. did you try plugging in some headphones)?

i have got an apple minimac 80gb and i was getting sound output from my monitor speakers unitl installing snow leopard,but all i can see now under sound pref. is headphones ?

I just checked our Mac Mini we have at work (using it as an iPod); just connect your speaker's 3.5mm line-in jack to your Mac Mini's headphone jack and you should be good. "Headphone" is probably a bad term to use...should be "line-out" but I'm sure there's some slight difference in symantics.

all ok now,wifes fault she had gone to the menu on the monitor and muted the sound.
