What do Snow Leopard's LCD font smoothing settings correspond with, with regards to Leopard?

I find the LCD font smoothing setting for my 13" MacBook Pro absolutely awful when used with certain sites, so I've turned it off. However, on Leopard there were more than two settings, and I was wondering what Snow Leopard's settings correspond with in Leopard 10.5 terms.

My guess is:

LCD font smoothing = "Medium - best for Flat Panel"
No LCD font smoothing = "Standard - best for CRT"

For my LCDs (which is all of my screens), I prefer to use "Standard - best for CRT", but sometimes I have used "Light". How do I get "Light" on Snow Leopard?

In the Terminal, type:

defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 1

(1, 2 and 3 are equivalent to Light, Medium and Strong, and 0 is equivalent to Standard.)

Thanks. Good info.

If after adjusting the font smoothing setting, how does one check the current font smoothing setting (since 1 and 3 presumably are not represented in the Sys Prefs)?
