iMovie not transferring sound

I transferred a video from my Camcorder to the iMac. Video is perfect but no sound at all. The video was edited on a PC. Any ideas? Thanks Gerry

What's the file type (the .xxx extension)?

Drop the file onto MediaInfo Mac. We need to know what the audio codec is.
