For reasons I am not allowed to discuss, I am running Leopard for the time being.

I had already forgotten the superior screen zoom behavior in 10.5. How can I get this once I re-load 10.6?

You mean magnify a portion of the screen where your cursor is located? I hold down the control key and give the scroll wheel a push forward.

No. What I mean is the cursor following mode that Leopard offers, and SL does not.
If I remember correctly, a zoomed screen view in SL will either:
* keep rigidly centered on the mouse cursor, unless viewport hits edge of screen
* stay still, until mouse cursor hits viewport edge

In Leopard:
* viewport pans proportionally to mouse cursor position. The fully linear behavior avoids all jerkiness of the viewport and mouse cursor, while working with a zoomed screen.

In the mouse system preferences (or the universal access ones) you can change the behavior when zoomed in. In Snow Leopard for me it defaults to what you call the "Leopard" behavior.

Would that be the "Continuously with pointer" option?
