Hello,

I have installed 10.6 on Leopard. It worked well, until I have started to experience difficulties in the operation of the Finder activities. I have trashed some software, which I have discovered as faulty in the log of the Console, but it repeated itself all the time. I am tired of it.
I would like to install the 10.6 on a formatted HD, and bring back my material from my external drive Time Machine.

My problem: how I can bring back essential materials, without the spoiled ones.

TIA

Find out first what's causing the trouble. Is it the system installation or the user account?

- Boot in safe mode (boot holding s). Do the problems still persist?
- Set up a new admin user account. Log onto that account? Do the problems persist?

If you run the SL installer and tell it to install SL onto a SL partition, it will perform an update install. That is, it will replace all the system files with the default 10.6 versions. It will not touch stuff in your user account or your apps though. So if your system is broken, that should be sufficient. If it's something in your account that won't solve the issues, but it's likely a new account and careful manual migration will.
