I was troubleshooting my DSL connection last week and set up a PPPOE connection so I could definitively say "yes, I tried that." Turns out it was a widespread problem and I just waited for the provider to fix it. But now, even after removing the PPPOE connection and the location it was set up on, I still have the item in my menubar. How do I lose this thing?

Should be able to hold down command and drag that sucker out.

I forgot about that trick. It worked fine.

No clue why it stuck around after I got rid of the PPPOE connection... but it's gone now and I'm happier. THANKS!

Yeah, menu bar items don't just disappear even if you've disabled an option. You have to explicitly remove the menu, either through a pref pane or the command drag option.
