I migrated to 10.6 on a 500GB HD and rarely used it then updated that drive to 10.6.x (4?) with a combo update but it stalled and i lost a lot of the stuff on the HD

I recoverd what I needed

that being said I have a new 2 TB drive
and would like to try this again from the 10.5.x drive

is there a way to migrate most but not all of the programs and leave the files on the 10.5 drive?

then Id try the ComboUpdater again w a fresh Dl and see what happens and loose

Well, you could install a vanilla system on a second drive and migrate during the initial setup assistant.

but may I select the Migration so that it does not migrate a few apps that I want to put on 10.6 DeNovo?

I think so.

If you find you can't and want to start over anyway, you can just *not* migrate and transfer/reinstall from hand later on.

Either way, you get a fresh system, and your old one remains untouched.
