I keep a lot of ions on my desk top in 10.5.8
the .jpegs are almost all generic, non picture view if you can call it that.
sometimes when I use photoshop elements and create a different version of a picture it saves that pic with a picture-view icon.
sorry I dont know what thats called.
today all my .jpeg views changes to 'picture' icons and I dont recall that I did anyting to make that happen.
when I reboot I initially see some of these .jpeg icons as generic and then they change gradually to a picture thats a small version of the jpeg itself.
how is this happening? did I inadvertently do this myself? its not a bid deal in itself but a few other odd things are happenting this other programs in the OS.
