Can't get rid of Bluetooth mouse connect/disconnect!

Is there any way to get rid of the bluetooth mouse connect/disconnect indication that pops up in the middle of the screen (MBP, latest 10.6.4)? I teach and having that icon pop up in the middle of training when the mouse goes into low power mode is annoying.

wish i knew...i tried to figure this out last year, but...nothing. will watch this thread, see if someone knows something...
