I ran the disc utility and ran Verify disc and got the message back stating "Volume header needs minor repair blah blah blah insert disc to repair." I ran the OS X disc and restarted and got the boot screen and ran disc utility to fix it and it says it is all good.
SO thinking it was magically fixed I restart and open OS X off the hard drive. I run disc utility again and the same error.
What is going on?
On another note, kinda.
I also ran verify permissions and found some out of wack and so I ran repair conditions, It says they are all fixed. SO I ran verify just for the heck of it and it found some that dont match. repair says all repaired and still verify is not agreeing. It finds a few in some file ending in widgets/whitepagesdirectory (never used whitepages or downloaded that). Also finds one in applications/addressbook.
Any help or intelligent suggestions is appreciated.

From my experience if utilities repair a drive-related problem, but it keeps returning, then there is irreparable physical damage to a part of the hard drive. Make sure you have a current backup.
You could buy a more specialized HDD product that may be able to fix it (really by marking the bad part as off limits).

If it is disk damage, reformatting the drive should cure it (by marking bad sectors, as CW says) but modern drives do that on the fly as they are detected. There are some issues with how HFS works (essentially that certain areas of the drive are accessed very frequently, making them more likely to wear), and it seems that you may have run in to one of them.
A specalized HD repair product can indeed help, but I would consider that a band aid at this point. Back up, if you haven't already, and start looking at replacing the drive. The drive you need is a 2.5" slimline SATA drive. You can find more info as well as instructions on replacement (it can be very easy or quite hard, depending on the exact model) here.

Modern drives will map out bad sectors, but I thought they usually did it when the drive was idle.

Thanks alot. That is not what I wanted to hear but it surely does clear up some confusion.
Sounds Like I just need a new laptop. With that problem on the HDD and my CD drive does not like to burn. The print manager fails almost all of the time. And it is a 2005 MBP. Hmmm.
I will probably just back up all my files and format it and maybe that will solve alot of the problems, sounds like it might.
I will let you guys know how it goes after the format.
Thanks Alot guys

I just backed up my hard drive and went to format and start it up on the CD to reinstall OSX and it says something to the sort. This software cannot be installed on this computer. It is the original CD that came with the computer. Is there a reason this would happen?

If your current OS is later than what came with the computer originally, it will refuse to install. The solution is to go to the Utilities menu and jump to Disk Utility (on the install disc). Reformat the drive. Then return to the Installer. It will install to a blank drive.

So I formatted it and tried that and the same thing is coming up. I for some reason tried to partition it to different formats thinking that might work and nothing.
My brother is coming up to help me out later and let me use his snow lepard CD. I think that is what happened. I updated to SL a long time ago and just forgot.

If your drive is messed up enough that OS X won't install on it even after a reformat, I'd probably replace it.

OK so my brothers Snow Leapard CD worked. I am now back on my Mac. I will run Disc Utility and try to burn a CD in the next few days to see how it all goes.
