What's the difference between the Dashboard and it's Widgets, and the new Apple Store for Mac that's going to be in 10.7 ?

I know we are talking about the Apps that currently exist on the iPhone and iPad, but couldn't the developers make those apps in the form of Widgets for the Dashboard. Is Apple getting rid of the Dashboard and just calling it an App Store now?

No.

Dashboard widgets will still be Dashboard widgets.

What Apple is doing is bringing an App Store to OS X to search, buy, and install apps (real apps, not widgets) with.*

*Although, it would be cool if you could find widgets and Safari extensions through the App Store too.

So what's the difference between Launch Pad and the Dock?
Why would you ever use Launch Pad over clicking an App in the Dock?

The Springboard view/Launch Pad (if that's what the kids are calling it ) will show the whole Applications folder, it looks like. It's just another way to view the Applications folder, like Stacks were in Leopard. The Dock has your most often used applications.

It's essentially a Stack of the Application Folder. I wouldn't promote that as one of the "NEW" features. It's hardly worthy of mentioning to be honest.

Also, does this mean that iPad apps will now work on my desktop computer? Or iPhone and iPad apps are using a different OS and therefore cannot be launched on a computer?

These changes are about winning Windows users. Launch pad is a Start menu replacement. App Store solves the installation problem that Windows users seem to have. Fullscreen apps are basically window maximize.

The exciting new features of Lion aren't so exciting. I'm all down for an App Store, but it's hardly a ground breaking new feature. Plus, it's going to be available in Snow Leopard, so it's not a LION feature.

I think Apple is running out of ideas for its OS. Look at the updates to iPhoto and iMovie and iLife! they are stalled.
