I've got 10.6.5, and I've noticed really...every version of os x since tiger, spotlight has gotten progressively less and less useful, and really, I never use it now...and when I do, it shows me the right result for a billionth of a second and then it switches to something else that has nothing to do with what I searched for. I've been messing with mdutil and disabling system indexing, turning off spotlight, etc. but is there I way to remove it completely from 10.6.5? I can't seem to find the info...it doesn't really matter, it's just wasting memory I could be using on programs that actually work.

I don't know how to turn it off, but if you go to Preferences>Spotlight and uncheck all the boxes, it has nothing to do, so would not take up memory.
