Yeah so spotlight hasn't worked on my macbook pro for a while. It's running 10.6.6 Server. I don't really use it too much so I never bothered to fix it. But now I'm on vacation and I'm using this laptop as my primary machine, and I need my spotlight!

I don't really remember if I turned it off or what. But I tried adding and deleting my hard drive from the "Privacy" list but that didn't help. I tried this too but it also hasn't seemed to help: sudo mdutil -a -i on
Any other ideas?

Try re-creating the index with Spotless.

Do you have a Bootcamp partition?

Exclude that.
