new laptop coming in. I was reading about how to do a Mac to Mac transfer with migration assistant, and i had a couple of questions...

Can i choose which Applications i want to transfer over? (on the demo, there is no dropdown triangle next to the App checkbox)

If I choose not to transfer an Application, will the library files still transfer over? what about viceversa? anyway to hold the library files/settings back while just transferring over the app?

i'm trying to keep this new laptop as clean as possible and want to only take over the essentials...i'm really hoping i can hold some apps back, and the library files do not transfer over

is there a better transfer program?

I've found the Migration assistant to be great at transferring over user information and a bit sketchy when it comes to transferring applications (typically I run into permissions issues - apps won't launch, or abruptly quit).

Honestly, haven't noticed about the library info.

Migration Assistant has worked flawlessly for me on a number of different computers. It will not give you the options to select which apps you would like to transfer to the new Mac.
