I'm holding off on upgrading to Lion, because I still have a few PPC apps that I need to run on my iMac. But, I'm wondering, can I install Snow Leopard in a virtual machine in Lion (using Parallels or similar?) Running 10.6, Apple won't allow a second Snow Leopard installation in Parallels (except for 10.6 Server.)

The reason you can't run Snow Leopard client as a VM is because of the EULA. This is not going to change just because they have released a new version. You can have a Snow Leopard Server as you mentioned or a Lion Client or Server but those are your choices. Maybe a Leopard Server, I forget.

You'd have to find an old retail Server license for that of course.
