I know that this should be a flawless procedure, but I had an experience some years ago that gives me pause. I think that around 8 years ago I tried to change my password, which seemed to work fine for getting access to my computer. However, even though I had never deliberately pass word protected any of my files or applications, some of them would not open without my authorization password. Thus, when I tried to use my new password, it did not work. But when I put in my old password, it did. I have no idea of what dynamic was to blame but I want to avoid this problem at all costs. Out of frustration, I just defaulted back to my old password and never tried to change it again.
I will soon be transferring all of my data over to a new MBA and do not want it to inherit issues like that. Has anyone ever had a similar problem? If so, what should I do to avoid it? Thanks
