so long story short....

Last time machine backup was 3 weeks (before I updated snow leopard to Lion).

Last night I was bored and decided to move my home directory to 'Macintosh HD2' which completely messed everything up (all user settings, application settings, etc). I did it through Settings->Accounts->right click the account->advanced options. And yes I am a dummy for doing this without running a Time Machine backup beforehand. I was traveling and on the road away from my external...

So whats the best way to get things back to the way they were?

A. Simply try to move the home directory back?

B. Time machine back to Snow Leopard, and then I would have to reinstall Lion I assume? I've already went through and backed up my new files that haven't made it into time machine yet

C. Other?

Not a dummy, just uninformed, and maybe a tad trigger happy when bored Try A first, seems most logical to reverse the original move, but moving files back and forth can cause problems. try and report back!

ok I tried it and it seems to have done the trick... at least everything appears to be fine.

I just have to get rid of the folder doubles that are remaining (documents, music, movies, public, etc)
