Anyone have an idea why I occasionally get a Recovered Files folder in the Trash, containing a copy of LucidaGrande.ttc?
I've seen the Recovered Files folder before, but the font file seems like an odd thing to have in there. It's obviously a copy of the file in the System>Library>Fonts folder, but...why is it in the trash?
What has happened is that some app has created a temporary file and then not deleted it on close the way it should have. If they were created using certain routines, the OS will save such files in the way you mention. That's what you are seeing - some app made a copy of that font file and then did not delete it, either because of a programming error or because it crashed.
The low-end Mac Pro is the most overpriced Mac since the IIvx
Weird.
Why would an app make a copy of a font file? I run Adobe apps, mostly, and generate a lot of PDFs, so I might suspect the file was used for embedding. Except, I never use Lucida in any projects.
