So since upgrading to Lion, my spotlight has been kinda... forgetful. I can type the exact name of many of my files, and not get a hit. Even after I find my files manually, open them, with their folder open in the finder, spotlight still can't find them. Is there an easy way to re-index everything? I did check my privacy settings, the only folder in there is the roxio items folder.

the app Onyx under maintenance > rebuild will let you rebuild the Spotlight index.

Why not just use Easyfind? Since Snow Leopard (or maybe even Leopard), Spotlight has been unable to find files in the Library. To me that seems crippled.

That OnyX program sucks. The thing quits all of your apps without asking and unmount the boot disk to check it. I don't want my disk checked, all I want is to reindex my drive. Is there a CLI way to do this that doesn't involve abusing my Mac.

You could try something like: sudo mdutil -i on /

Yeah I did google up some commands that caused a re-indexing. But I still don't seem to be getting any results out of my home folder. That seems to be the situation. Things in my home folder aren't showing up in searches. I suspect that this has something to do with my home folder not being located on my boot drive. BUT I have no exclusions of type, or drive in my spotlight settings, so it SHOULD be searching that drive too. Maybe it's a Lion bug?
