Here's the funny thing though: On my 13" MacBook Pro, mission control isn't all that bad. I'd rate it as nice as Expose + Spaces. Sometimes it's a bit nicer, sometimes, it's a bit worse.

But on to my desktop, where I do actually work. I have multiple screens, with hot corners set up. I have different spaces setup, with Fkeys sending you right to specific spaces. I constantly use Expose to pick which document I need, because I always end up working on 15 documents at once.

In short, I'm a "regular" user on my laptop, and a "power" user on my desktop. And Mission Control is a NIGHTMARE for power users! It is like a giant E-Brake that is stuck on and you can't release. Every time you move, it just sloooowwwwws you down. Mission Control is such a poor substitute for Expose when you have a screen full of windows. And it's such a clumsy Spaces substitute if you've finally managed to work Spaces into your workflow.

It's such a huge slowdown, even after 2 months of "getting used to it", that I've been contemplating going back to Snow Leopard. What I'm really, really hoping for (but not expecting), is a future Lion update to re-enable separate Expose & Spaces, and allow you to choose whether you want Mission Control (the default) or separate Expose & Spaces (for people who have SHIT TO DO).

And there's another glitch too. If you have multiple displays like I do, and they are offset like mine are, it's now much harder to hit screen corners in the middle of the screens. In other words, the top-left corner of my right screen, if you flick the cursor to that corner, in Lion, the cursor will just bump past the corner and keep going. Corner traps like this aren't a problem that needs solving, people like me set them up on purpose so there are more places to easily activate Expose/Spaces/Dashboard. If you don't know what I'm talking about, maybe this will help you understand:

I'm annoyed I can't access to my desktop with a 4 fingered swipe like I used to. And I want the app switcher back with a 4 finger sideswipe.

Personally I find it more annoying swiping between full screen apps with 3 fingers which frequently fails and sends Safari back a page. Very annoying when it had loaded 95% of a two hour video....

This is why I never get too invested in Apple's latest app switching schemes. It's still alt-tab for me. Sometimes Expose, but usually just for the app.

I've been using Macs as my primary machine since 2001. But cmd-tab will always be alt-tab for me, just like ctrl-click will always be right-click and cmd-c/v will always be ctrl-c/v.
