MacBook Pro 15 inch core 2 duo, 3 gigs Ram , 750 Gb HD with Snow leopard and optical drive replaced with a new 1 Tb Hd.

Lion installed on formatted 1Tb HD. all updates applied
MBP will not wake from sleep. Requires restart. snoring light on the latch release switch does not cycle in sleep. Oddly the brightness does vary in direct proportion to how much I cover both light level sensors.

Word for Mac 2008 installer quits, PSE 8 won't install, Kodak software is flakey,
DiskWarrior applied-no good, permissions repaired, no good, Disk repaired, no good, Lion re-installed, no good. PRAM reset no good

SuperDupered SnowLeopard to 1 Tb drive - flawless operation

Any suggestions other than stick with Snow Leopard, which runs flawlessly ?

Thanks

Did you have all the latest firmware/software updates installed?

Did you check through all your extensions to see whether there might have been an obsolete one that would've needed to be updated?

Console logs are usually the first thing to look into when trying to figure out why a machine is hanging/not waking properly.

As for Office 2008 and PSE 8 not installing, heck. Unsurprising, but I got nothing.

DiskWarrior - you made sure to be running v4.4, right? Because anything earlier is more likely to cause problems on 10.7 than fix them.

Yes

No. I did a clean install on an out of the silver bag HDD( could it be that it is a Samsung !)

I am not skilled enough to interpret these

Proving to be an very expensive upgrade if I have to buy new PSE and Word. Apple didn't tell me that

Oops ! no 4.3 I'll update and try again

Thanks for your suggestions

Office 2008: Googled "office 2008 installer lion"

This is the first result:
http://www.officeformachelp.com/2011...-2008-on-lion/

Try that.

I'm not finding anything on Photoshop Elements 8, sorry. FWIW, Pixelmator 2.0 is on sale at $29 right now.

Thank you for your generous efforts, Spheric Harlot, but the installer does not even get past stage one. Never mind I'll stick to pages

Is FWIW, Pixelmator 2.0 any good , I use the despeckle , noise reduction , sharpen and skin colour adjust in PSE to sort out my pics will it cover these bases?

Thanks again

I believe there's a downloadable demo of Pixelmator available from their site.

Surprisingly good , blows PSE out of he water for value and Pixelmator is perfectly good for touching up amateur snaps.

I will be keen to print to Kodak 5250 to see if it is better than the rubbish the PSE sends out.
