Does anyone have any experience in making OS X more resistant to hackers?

I plan to run a website from a Mini Server but the site has been hacked before, pretty badly. We are talking social engineering, key loggers, unauthorised remote access and physical sabotage of the business premises to go with it.

The old site was hosted with a well-known hosting company but was almost certainly on windows. The hackers were also able to get the passwords to administer the site and screw around with it.

I can take certain steps to prevent them stealing passwords again but I am wondering about DoS attacks now as well as setting up good monitoring to I can trace whoever attempts to get in at the very least.

Well, using OS X is inherently safer than Windows. Also, you'll be administering the site, not the ISP, meaning that you can adjust settings, such as firewall, to minimize intrusion. The program Little Snitch: "informs you whenever a program attempts to establish an outgoing Internet connection. You can then choose to allow or deny this connection" so if someone gets thru and tries to, say keylog, you'll be informed and can disable it.

I must confess to being curious about what on earth makes people so abusive to your enterprise. Cyber-vandalism is just unacceptable.

You can't fix a social problem with a technical solution.

Lets say the site owner has well and truly learned from previous experience as far as the social problem goes. Thanks guys.
