I have been trying to accomplish a "simple?" task on OS Lion. I recorded some files onto an external flash drive, plugged that drive into a Mac with OS Lion installed, then did a copy and paste of those files from the flash drive to a folder on the Mac. Instead of actually copying the files to that folder, OS Lion simply made aliases of them. I then tried the same thing by selecting the Copy and Paste Item functions from the menu bar at the top of the screen on the Mac. Same results. It just made aliases. As I recall, I also tried drag and drop with the same results.

Can anyone shed some light on why that might be happening?

Thanks.

What sort of files were they? Did you try holding 'Alt' while dragging and dropping? Any sign of a green + symbol at any point?
