We are a group of 5 developers. We are currently using windows for programming. But we are about to develop iphone applications. So we pooled up money and decided to buy a mac mini with lion server.
Can we(5 developers) work with lion server concurrently using our windows machine? If so, what is the cheapest solution for this?

Well, that is a pretty open-ended question. Can you use the mac mini as a windows file server? Absolutely. Just need to create the accounts and share the folders you want. In addition, to get SMB working, you need to give each account an SMB password. Also, your computers have to be in the same workgroup. It will also work with NFS if that is how you roll.

If you want to have five people running a "terminal-server" like session on the mini, I am not sure that would work. Seeing you are developing for the iphone, I will assume you also want to compile on the mini, and to do so you will have to use the built-in vnc server to remote into it. I wish the mini had the ability to do a RDC-like connection, but I have not found out how yet.

One thing needs clarifications. Are you looking at buying a mac mini (regular) and adding lion server to it, or are you going to buy a full-fledged mac mini server? The mac mini server will come with two HDs which you can reconfigure to RAID 1 if you want. That is how mine is set up as I wanted the redundancy.

Option 1: with Lion you can have one user login at the machine, and a second user login via VNC (and work on a separate GUI). If everyone knows both login credentials that might be suitable.

Option 2: purchase AquaTerminal- its the closest thing to Windows Terminal Services.
