AFAIK, I wouldn't since I don't write in Japanese, Chinese… so I wonder why it is being loaded at launch.

Can I safely kill it.?

It is just that I have another Mac side by side running Lion and that process doesn't show up at Activity Monitor. On mine it does.

So why do you want to kill it? In modern operating systems, process you don't use don't really take up resources (if you exclude RAM hogs like Safari and such, that is).
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Well, I didn't see any reason for it to be running but on a second though, I guess it is there after having installed some app which includes Japanese and Chinese support… iBooks Author comes to mind.

Possibly iBooks Author.

What about handwriting recognition (say, for a Wacom tablet)?

Maybe you should start it on the second Mac so they're both the same ? I'd leave it unless it's doing something you don't like...I know apps that clog up my console log with error messages (e.g. Razor's mouse driver did) annoy the crap out of me but the fact something's running should be no concern.

No Wacom tablet here.
It is funny, imklaunchagent is not being listed right now. So far I will follow your advice and leave it to the operating system. No worth the worry.

Thanks.
