Am using a MacBook Pro, 10.6.8. What is the Mac equivalent of ChkDsk please? I wish to scan/search for possible corrupted files, especially MP3, iTunes files.

Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities) or fsck in Single User Mode.

Thank you for the fast reply. What do I do after bringing up Disk Utility please? Also, where do I find fsck?

Select your disk from the list on the left, click the First Aid tab, and click either Verify Disk or Repair Disk. That's it.
