my new iMac is starting up very slowly.
it takes about 3 minutes.
i have two partitions on it, one for lion (eugh!) and one for the latest edition of mountain lion ( much better).
neither show my separate hard drive, which is very frustrating.
how can i fix it?

Reformat and reinstall Lion until Mountain Lion is ready for everyday use.

Not sure, but since you have 10.8 on it, I'd have to look at your iMac for a while to figure it out.
Could you ship your iMac to me for inspection? I'll be gentle I
This one time, at Boot Camp, I stuck a flute up my PC.

Make sure that you have selected a partition with an OS on it in Startup Disk.
The current Mac Pro is the most out-of-date Mac since the Macintosh Portable
