Hi folks,
I'm looking to start using Photoshop CS6, so I was hoping that someone here might have the knowledge and be kind enough to point out whether or not I should get a new mac or if I could just upgrade my current machine. I'm aware that mine currently needs more memory than the 512mb it currently has to run photoshop cs6, but I'm not sure how to actually add memory or if it's even possible with my machine being so old. Ideally I'd just upgrade my machine as I don't really have the funds readily available to buy a new machine just now. Any help or advice you may offer will be most appreciated. I have listed below all the info I could find on the machine.

Machine Name: eMac (OS X - version 10.4.11)
Machine Model: PowerMac4,4
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (2.1)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 700 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
Memory: 512 MB
Bus Speed: 100 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.4.2f1

I think Adobe has required Intel processor for their apps since CS4, so I'd say find an old copy of CS3 or probably best with CS2. I think I had CS2 running well on my eMac.

I've not heard of anyone updating the processor in an eMac but maybe someone else has...

Your eMac can be upgraded to 1 GB of RAM, but that will not let you run Photoshop CS6. The eMac CPU is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded. It seems to be possible to overclock it, but not enough to make a difference. As andi says, you will not be able to run Photoshop CS6 on that machine.
The current Mac Pro is the most out-of-date Mac since the Macintosh Portable
